New website links adventurers to local businesses

Launching soon, Adventure Snowy Valleys is a new initiative of Business Snowy Valleys. Supported by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, the project aims to link Snowy Valley’s fantastic adventure trails and tracks to the goods and services supplied by local businesses.

Right now, local adventure groups and clubs - cycling, mountain bike, kayak, walking, horse riding and running groups are invited to submit their favourite trails to Adventure Snowy Valleys. To upload, groups must supply a gpx file, a photo and a brief description of the trail they submit. This will then be assessed, loaded into the website and linked to nearby businesses.

Matt Lucas, project lead for Business Snowy Valleys, says, “The idea is that users will come to the Adventure Snowy Valleys website and be able to find the style of trails they are looking for based on type and also location. Their search results are then linked to local businesses.”

”Users can download the trail maps they like from the Adventure Snowy Valleys website, directly to their own devices. We are using Strava to track and map our trails and we invite clubs and organisations to submit their favourite trails to us,” Mr Lucas continued.

Adventure Snowy Valleys is not exclusively for the die-hard adventurers, each trail will have a difficulty-rating and many of Snowy Valleys’ more picturesque, family-friendly and accessible tracks will be listed.

The project includes extensive promotion of the website to surrounding regions and also within Sydney and Canberra. The website will be accompanied by highway billboard advertising, social media advertising and promotion through regional Visitor Information Centres.

“We really want people to come and share our backyard. Adventure Snowy Valleys will connect visitors to authentic outdoor experiences, with extensive trails mapped for every level of experience, plus quality businesses and services to make their adventure one to remember,” Mr Lucas said.

Clubs and organisations right across the Snowy Valleys region are invited to add their listing at https://adventuresnowyvalleys.com.au

Local businesses will be listed on the website for free until 30 June 2025, after which time a listing will form part of their annual Business Snowy Valleys membership. Business Snowy Valleys is the local business chamber advocating for and supporting businesses in and around Tumut, Batlow, Adelong and Talbingo. The Adventure Snowy Valleys project encompasses the entire Snowy Valleys.
